Didn't ski today, we used it as a much needed rest-day.
Slept in comfortably and jumped in the car and started to drive.
Took a scenic route through the rocky mountains on the way to Lake Louise.
Stopped at some canyon, cant even remember what it was called.
Walked up the path towards it for a bit, except we weren't really expecting to hike for as long as it took, so we just walked along the path until we decided it was enough.
It was very very picturesque with a little frozen river in the canyon that was literally a slice down an entire mountain from flowing there for the thousands of years. Really atmospheric and peaceful, glad we did it, even though we didnt do much.
We kept driving to lake louise.
Saw a field with a few Moose (I checked the plurality).
It was snowing now too. (Sucked for our visibility but was cool)
I was a little dissapointed cos Lake Louise was frozen over and not beautiful and blue like you see in the pictures. I'm coming to the conclusion that Banff area is actually better in summer for many many reasons. Skiing is better closer to the coast like Brittish Columbia/Whistler/Silverstar cos they simply get more snow over there. Still can't complain though.
Started to drive on a road called Ice Fields Parkway which was a direct line to Jasper a few hours away. It was snowing pretty heavily though and after a while of driving through the snow and scenery we decided to turn around and head to Banff village.
Wen't browsing through the tiny little shopping centre and stocked up on a bunch of alcohol.
Started a respectable drinking sesh with the lads before catching a cab into the town of Canmore. It was disappointing. I guess Canmore is more for retirees and families to rent a condo and escape into the wilderness rather than hit the night scene. Oh well, we still managed to talk to the bar tender and a couple of random locals.
